Entrecard On Fire

Written by Alfonso Muñoz on June 1, 2008 – 4:44 pm

At this time I think you have noticed this news because it happened hours ago. Because I live in Spain I can be informed earlier than people from United States. Take in count that I’m 6-9 hours ahead. This morning I was going to review an advert awaiting for my approval when I got surprised with this incredible message:

There was a fire at our datacenter resulting in the failure of some of our systems, our database server appears to be offline still, we’re working on it and we’re really sorry about the issues at this time. more information arriving shortly.

Update: The outage is pretty serious, you can read more about the datacenter fire at ThePlanet forums. They’ve got teams of people there and they’re working through the night. We have no ETA at this time, very sorry.

Well, it seems that Entrecard has some serious problems. I hope they solve it soon, I like this kind of traffic building.

How effective would you say the EntreCard is? I mean.. compared to other methods of building interconnectedness for a site

Hi Wolf Nibori. I can’t tell you if it is better or worse than other ways of traffic building, it is another way of do it. It is better to run every service you have available: Twitter, Entrecard, MyBlogLog… Look at the big bloggers, all of them run those services because they work. Don’t think of each of them as a separate service, think of the whole group :)

Of course some of them work better than other but it doens’t mean that you have tu put off the ones that work worse.

Does Entrecard work? At least for me it do it :)

Fortunately, it looks like Entrecard is back up and functioning pretty well now, so it seems that the outage has simply given us a one-day vacation from our dropping routines. For me this was a welcome break because I managed to log in shortly after the site came back online and was able to scoop up some relatively inexpensive advertising deals.
