How I Won My First Contest, Prize: 10K EC
Written by Alfonso Muñoz on July 1, 2008 – 7:44 amYes, today I won my first contest and now I’m 10k Entrecard Credits richer. This is cool, now I have fresh EC’s to drop on lots of blogs, even on John Chow’s
. Let’s see how I did it.
The Inspiration
First of all I’m going to tell you where I found the inspiration to realise that if I’m determined I can win a contest. On the last month of May I read a post in Affiliate Conffesion where Alan explained to his readers how he managed to win a MacBook Air and more than $3000 worth of other prizes. I can summarize his strategy to three points:
- Gathering all the information: he read all the rules of the contest and even he contacted the organizers.
- Planning the strategy: once he had all the possible ways to score he set a plan.
- Following the working plan: after set the goals he started the race.
After reading his post I was so impressed with this clever strategy that I wanted to start my own one.
The Contest
I can’t remember how I found KushMoney’s blog. I don’t know if I found it before of after I read the inspiration post. Anyway his contest was perfect. It was attainable for me because the requirements were not the ones used in really big contests like signing up in affiliate networks and then make an earnings race. In spite of this attainable requirements the prizes were very interesting. But I was determined to win the first prize: 10K Entrecard Credits.
The rules
- Write a post on your blog about the competition with a link to this post - 100 KM Points
- Subscribe via email to RSS feed - 50 KM Points
- Comment on the competition post - 40 KM Points
- Comment on the paid review post - 30 KM Points
- Comment on KushMoney posts - 20 KM Points
- Comment on other blogs post about the competition - 10 KM Point
- Vote For KushMoney At Bloggers Choice Awards - 5 KM Points
- Drop your entrecard - 5KM Points
Among these rules the easier ones were:
- Write a blog post about the contest. This was easy, it took me only 10-15 minutes.
- Subscribe via email to RSS feed. I was going to do it anyway, but now I’ll switch his feed to bloglines.
- Comment on the competition post. This one was easy too.
- Comment on KushMoney posts. This was the key rule to win.
However dropping entrecards was poorly paid in KM Points, too expensive in EC’s to get only 5 KM Points.
The plan
My plan was very simple. I only had to comment and keep an eye over other contestants. I supposed that the rest of the bloggers would cover the same points I did so the battle would be on the blog comments.
Conclusions
This contest, my first one, was easy to win. However I suspect that the next one won’t be as easy because he is growing up very fast. Kushmoney is an entrepeneur blogger I find very interesting. He works very hard on his web projects and he has very good ideas. He is doing very well. At this moment he has a very good position on Alexa’s rank (149.929) and also recently he was mentioned in JohnCow’s blog!! I have exchanged mails with him and I like his style. I think you must give him a chance and take a look at his blog
.
